University Place is a strong, cohesive, family of area neighborhoods, businesses and institutions which operates through a governing board and a paid manager. University Place is incorporated as a 501(c)(4) tax exempt organization and is operated exclusively for the promotion of civic goals.  Member organizations include  Boulevard Oaks, MAMA, Southampton, Southampton Extension, Southgate, Old Braeswood and Windermere, the University Village Association (representing Village businesses) and International Bank of Commerce (IBC).  A close working relationship has been developed with representatives of Rice University  (a financial contributor and active participant) and the South Main Alliance.  University Place represents a unified civic endeavor by consensus of the homeowners, businesses and institutions within the area.
